Next month, we are launching a new slide for small ruminants
This slide is designed to monitor energy, protein and calcium balance in late-pregnant ewes and goats.
It is similar to the current transition slide, with one difference: it measures albumin instead of phosphorus. Albumin is a good indicator of an animal's total protein supply before parturition.
This is BoviLab's first extension to other species. The slide can also be used as a transition slide in dairy cattle when the ration contains a lot of grass. In that situation, it is often not possible to lower phosphorus substantially, while protein supply may come under pressure. Albumin is then the better parameter to monitor.
